In Jason's Words: Some of my earliest memories are sitting in my uncle's basement as a very young child, watching the old folks play bluegrass, folk, and other roots music. Music was always a simple fact of life growing up. Everyone on my dad's side of the family played multiple instruments, and just about every time we got together everybody would bring out their instruments and polish up their stories.

I first picked up the guitar around the age of eight, started violin in grade 5, and messed around with other instruments when I had time. I played first violin through middle school & high school, keyboard in the stage band, and sang tenor in the choirs. In college I majored in music ministry and studied guitar more seriously. In 1998, I was honored to be an artist on the College Life Compilation CD, along with Paul Wright, Shawn McDonald, Keegan Smith, and others.

My influences and musical experiences have been very widespread; I've done everything from opera to hard rock, although most of the music I write can be called acoustic alternative. What I'm listening to depends on the color of my mood.
